Belgian Refugees

This is the Belgian war refugees committee’s summary of weekly accounts.  When the First World War broke out, many Belgians fled from the advancing Germans to Great Britain and some came to Yeovil.  There were local fundraising events to help provide for them and one refugee in Yeovil was the organist from Antwerp Cathedral.  A Christmas party was provided for them on 26th December 1914.
